月面基地建設ロボットに携わる人材を育てる　[ロボット] [編集]

◆アメリカのブッシュ大統領は2015年頃には月面基地を建設するそうで
す。今から10年後です。その時に実際の建設作業をするのはロボットが
望ましいと言われています。
　「その月面で活躍するロボットを作る技術者を育てたい」
　「子どもの理科離れをなくす会」を主宰する京都大学総合人間学部講
師の北原達正さんは、このように話しています。

◆北原さんはまた、ホームページに次のように書いています。
　「月面基地を建設するのに必要な宇宙飛行士は１万人ほどです。その
宇宙飛行士１人をサポートするのに必要な人員は2000人です。この割合
で計算すると、地球から宇宙飛行士をサポートするだけでも2000万人が
必要になる」

　当然、その中には日本人も含まれるでしょう。今の小学生や中学生た
ちの年齢になります。「子どもの理科離れをなくす会」は、その時のた
めの人材を今から育てようという”北原私塾”なのです。もうちょっと
格好よく言えば、明日の日本を育てる人材を育てた松下村塾のようでも
あります。

◆月面基地建設のための宇宙飛行士に代わって、危険が多い宇宙で実際
に建設作業に従事するのはロボットになるだろうと考えられています。
となると、ロボットのことを理解できる人材が必要です。
　ロボットを作ったり、修理したり、さらには命令を与えるなどです。
将来はロボットが人間と共生できるような環境作りも求められるように
なるでしょう。

　そのためには、まずは「電気工学」「制御」「プログラミング」とい
った３つの基礎技術が必要になると言われています。
　それを「スペースロボットコンテスト」という競技大会を通して、子
どもたちに学んでもらおうというのが「子どもの理科離れをなくす会」
の活動のひとつなんです。

◆「スペースロボットコンテスト」は、去年、第１回目が行われ、今年
２月12日に第２回大会の決勝が大阪市内のキッズプラザ大阪で開かれま
す。
　前回はロボットによって物を運ぶのがテーマでした。しかし今回はも
う少し難易度を高めて「月面で荷物の仕分けをするロボット」に取り組
みます。

月面での荷物の運搬と仕分けを想定

　色や形の違った積み木を、ロボットがセンサーで見分けて定められた
場所へ運び、その正確さとスピードを競うというものです。

　それの大阪予選が１月29日に大阪市立科学館で開かれました。11チー
ムが参加し、チーム「Shougo」が１位で、他の５チームとともに大阪予
選を通過しました。

◆今年のコンテストの予選会には32チーム（１チーム２人）が参加しま
した。決勝大会に進出するのは大阪予選を勝ち抜いた６チームと京都大
会、滋賀大会の勝者を合わせた16チームです。

　ところでこの「子どもの理科離れをなくす
会」には誰でも参加できますが、コンテストに出場できるのは中学３年生以下の小中学生です。去年７月に大阪
で開かれたロボカップ世界大会のジュニアサッカーチャレンジの部では、
同会の会員が優勝したそうです。
