◆大和信夫ヴイストン社長と細見成人東洋理機工業社長が、5月28日、大阪・南港のインテックス大阪で開かれている「中小企業総合展 2008 in kansai」で、ロボットによる新事業創出をテーマに、熱く語りました。
達人の技をロボットに伝承させたいという細見社長（右から2人目）と、ロボカップがロボット事業へ後押しとなった大和社長
東洋理機工業の細見さんは、ロボットシステムインテグレーターと呼ばれる「産業用ロボットを工業に導入するのが仕事」という会社の社長です。
「３Ｋと言われる、きつい、汚い、危険な仕事をロボットに任せ、人はクリエイティブな仕事についてほしい」というのが細見さんの願い。
そんなことから熱間鍛造ロボットや化学薬品分析ロボットシステムなど、いろんな産業用ロボットを作ってきました。
そんな中で次世代ロボットと言われる人間と共存し共働可能なロボット（パートナーロボットやサービスロボットとも言われます）の開発を手掛けるようになりました。
それが日本食研に納入されたバンコロボットなど、企業のキャラクタロボットでした。さらに最近では「産業用ロボットを工場から町へ出そう」を合言葉に、たこ焼きロボットのような、固い産業用ロボットが柔らかいたこ焼きを作るといった、新しい分野への挑戦も見せています。
そして細見社長は、次のステップも考えているようです。
「言葉を理解するロボットだ。人の言葉を聞いて動作する仕組みを実現させようと考えている」

◆ヴイストンの大和社長は、２足歩行ロボット「Robovie-X」が側転や後転する様子や、正座して実際に音を出して三味線を弾く実演を見せていました。
このロボットは同社の代表商品のひとつで、全国のロボットショップなどで販売されており、年間１万台の販売台数になっているといいます。
こうしたロボット事業は2000年から始めていたといいますから、かなり早い取り組みでした。でも最初は全方位カメラの開発をするなど、ロボットそのものの開発にはまだ乗り出していませんでした。
変化があったのは03年に大阪市が、ロボカップに参戦するチームを公募したことでした。それに応募して、出場するための２足歩行ロボットを開発したのがきっかけでした。
昨年のアトランタ大会では４年連続の世界一を達成し、今年もジャパンカップで優勝して、世界大会への出場を決めています。
この世界一は、社内の技術レベルと社員のやる気を向上させたようです。
大和社長は「初めて参加したときには、動かないロボットも多く見られた。しかし今では動きよりも知能が問われるようになってきている。社内でも失敗を恐れずにプロジェクトに取り組むことで、さらに高いレベルへと高めることができると思う」と、話しています。
◆4年前に活動を開始した「次世代ロボット開発ネットワーク」は、ヴイストンの大和社長が呼びかけ、30数社がそれに賛同して発足した。東洋理機工業の細見社長も、その１人でした。
組織の中には、いろんなグループやプロジェクト、研究会が誕生し、今では会員も300数十社に拡大し、日本でも珍しいロボット事業のネットワークになっています。
ロボットに取り組む２人の社長が目指すところは、ロボット市場の拡大です。
大和社長は「話題だけではなく、ここに来ていよいよ、生活に役立つロボットが出てくる時代になってきた」と、確かな手応えを感じているようです。
細見社長も「大阪がロボットの街であるならば、どこへ行ってもロボットがあるようにしたい」と、ロボット人口の拡大を提唱しています。
